Polarizing Filters

POLARIZING FILTERS

     Make your own instruments! This kit contains two polarizing filters, about two inches square, for making a polariscope. In addition, there are two smaller pieces for making a dichroscope!
     While it is helpful to mount the filters for a dichroscope, you really don't need anything other than the filters themselves. For details see The Dichroscope, (IGS members only.)

All Purpose Glass Reticle

ALL PURPOSE GLASS RETICLE

     This reticle has a microruler and a microprotractor, plus a grid ruler for measuring half lengths. The grid ruler is just above the protractor, giving you a good reference for aligning the table when measuring crown and pavilion angles.
     The reticle is 25.9 millimeters in diameter. The microruler is 20 millimeters long with .1 millimeter graduations. The grid ruler is 10 millimeters long, with four graduations. Don't let the rulings confuse you, it is used to measure proportions, not straight line lengths.
     This a necessity for cut grading diamonds and it is useful for dozens of other purposes. The price is just $35, which includes shipping.
