Gem Encrusted Plinth

    Hi Forum followers, just thought I would share this with you last year on our trip to Mogok Myanmar/Burma we visited the Phaung Daw O Temple in Mogok.
    in there locked behind Glass is several gold and silver gem encrusted Plinths. They use these to place the Gold Buddha’s on these once each year to pray.
    The story goes that the gems are given to the Monks by the owners of mines in and around Mogok so they will pray over their mines to keep them prosperous.
    they are encrusted with rubies, sapphires, black spinel and many other top quality gems
