Modified Smithsonian Bar Cut Tourmaline, Congo, 4.40 Carats cts
I cut this tourmaline in a design much like Jeff Graham’s Smithsonian Bar, but added some extra facets to both the top and the bottom. The color is very much like a precious or imperial topaz. I could not see any actual inclusions under magnification, only a few crystal growth distortion lines. Technically, it’s easily eye clean and probably considered flawless.
