Almandine Garnet – Natural, Faceted, Red, 1.14 ct
The most widespread type of garnet, almandine usually blends with pyrope or spessartine. In large sizes, these gems have very dark tones. Gem cutters often hollow out the backs of dark garnets to lighten the color. Sometimes, they may purposely cut windows into these gems. Very affordable, almandines cost up to $30 a carat per carat.
