Garnet – Natural, Carved, Orange

To ensure the safe return of her husband from battle, Queen Berenike II dedicated her hair to the gods. The constellation Berenice's Hair, near Leo, commemorates this event. (Earlier in her life, she reputedly rode into a battle after the death of her father and defeated the enemy).
